A wild elephant, that killed two people, was captured in southern India's Karnataka.

The incident is reported to have happened in Kadaba, Dakshina Kannada district on February 23.

Visuals showed the rescue team gearing up to capture the elephant. They tracked down the elephant and then had its legs tied to two other pachyderms. The wild elephant was then tranquilised and straps were tied around it for it to be lifted and put on the back of a truck. The pachyderm was lifted by a crane and placed on the truck, signalling the success of the rescue operation.

According to a report, the rescue operation was three-day long and it finally achieved success on February 23. The elephant had attacked and killed two people, which included a young woman on February 20.

Some villagers meanwhile, expressed dissent as they wanted the other elephants in the area, which were posing problems for them, to be captured by the forest department officials. They pelted stones and attacked the forest department officials and the police arrested seven people in connection with this case.
