FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A police officer responding to a call in Fairfax County got a surprise visitor Thursday — an alligator lounging outside a motel room door.

The unusual sighting happened at a local motel, where the reptile was spotted near an entrance. The Fairfax County Police Department shared the incident with a bit of humor on social media, captioning it, “What’s poppin’? A gator at your motel door, apparently.”

Authorities safely contained the alligator, and no injuries were reported. Officials are investigating how the animal ended up on the property and are working with wildlife services on its relocation.
