CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Firefighters in Coral Springs responded to a late-night call with an unusual twist — a raccoon stuck inside a trash can while attempting to scavenge for food.

According to the Coral Springs Fire Department, crews were dispatched to assist the curious animal, affectionately referred to as a “trash panda,” after it became trapped with one leg inside the can and unable to free itself.

Firefighters carefully helped the raccoon out of its predicament and released it safely back into the wild. Officials shared the lighthearted incident on social media, reminding residents — and raccoons — to use caution when dumpster diving.
