Everett Officers Rescue Trapped Driver From Burning Electric Vehicle
EVERETT, Wash. — Two Everett police officers are being credited with saving a man’s life after pulling him from a burning electric vehicle early July 26 on Interstate 5 near state Route 2, authorities said.
According to the Everett Police Department, the fiery collision occurred shortly before the officers arrived on scene. They acted within minutes, forcing their way into the vehicle to free the trapped driver as flames spread rapidly.
Mayor Cassie Franklin praised the officers’ bravery, calling them “heroes in every sense of the word,” while Chief John DeRousse commended their “quick thinking and selfless actions.” Both officers were treated for smoke inhalation and are recovering.
The driver survived the incident.
