Westminster Police Rescue Bedridden Resident From Spreading House Fire
WESTMINSTER, Calif. — Westminster police officers are being credited with saving a bedridden resident from a burning home after a fire broke out last week, officials said.
On Sept. 18, officers responded to a structure fire near Springdale Street and Chinook Avenue. The caller reported being trapped in their room as smoke entered, unable to escape due to being partially bedridden.
When officers arrived, they found the garage fully engulfed in flames and spreading quickly. They located the resident and worked together to safely remove them from the home. Shortly after, crews from the Orange County Fire Authority arrived and extinguished the fire.
Both the resident and officers received medical attention for smoke inhalation, but no significant injuries were reported. Authorities praised the teamwork that ensured a safe outcome.
