A rescue team saved a dog trapped with a metal chain hook in its mouth in Thailand.

Villagers called for help after noticing that the one-year-old pooch, named Nong Uap-Ib, had a hook caught in her jaws in Mueng District, Samut Songkhram Province.

Animal handlers from the Sawang Bencha Tham Samut Songkhram Foundation quickly rushed to the scene and found the distressed doggie acting docile.

Dramatic footage shows authorities using a cloth to cover Nong Uap-Ib's face while she lay on the ground. They used a chain cutter to remove the hook and carefully pulled it away from her mouth.

Dog owner Tui described her pet as mischievous, which led her to tie her up with a chain. She had previously used a rope, but Nong Uap-Ib bit through it until it snapped.

The canine was safely freed, with officers advising Tui to use a safer dog leash to prevent a similar incident from occurring again.
