ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A driver received a costly citation after running a stop sign downtown while police and fire vehicles were already in the intersection, officials said.

The incident happened Sept. 2 and, fortunately, no one was injured. Police emphasized that such reckless behavior endangers pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and even the driver.

The driver was issued a ticket carrying several hundred dollars in fines and three points on their license.

The department reminded the public to slow down, stay alert and follow traffic laws, noting that achieving “Vision Zero” requires everyone’s participation in eliminating severe crashes and traffic deaths.
