COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Commerce City Police are reminding residents it’s rattlesnake season after a recent encounter between an officer and a particularly vocal serpent on a residential driveway.

Over the weekend, Officer Rahn responded to a call about a rattlesnake found coiled near a home. Using a catch pole, the officer safely captured the snake and relocated it to a nearby open field, according to the department’s Facebook post.

The snake incident follows a recent bite reported on a city trail, prompting a public service announcement from the department’s Community Service Officers, who also handle animal control.

“These Colorado natives are making themselves known this time of year,” the department said. “If you see one, steer clear.”
