CENTRALIA, Ill. — A Centralia police sergeant was cited following a crash involving a squad car while responding to a domestic disturbance on July 9.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., the squad car was involved in a collision at 5th and Elm streets. Centralia Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene, though both Sergeant Stephen Perry and the other driver refused medical treatment.

Per department policy, the Marion County Sheriff's Department conducted the investigation and issued Perry two citations: disobeying a stop sign and driving with an expired license. He was given an Aug. 18 court date. An internal investigation by Centralia Police remains ongoing.
