This elephant calf was spotted attempting to get back to his feet after falling over in a muddy puddle in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

After lying down in a muddy patch the calf couldn't quite prop itself upright, making for an adorable clip.

The filmer told Newsflare: "After lying down on his side in the mud, the male baby elephant faced the normally easy challenge of getting back on his feet.

"The baby elephant was swaying his legs from side to side in order to build some momentum.

"Every time it looked like the baby elephant just had enough momentum to flip himself over, the baby elephant would fall back onto his side.

"The baby elephant was adamant to get up and the continuous swinging up and down was just so awkward-looking but adorable at the same time.

"At the end, the baby elephant gave a quick soft scream which attracted the attention of his nearby mother, busy enjoying spraying herself with mud.

"With lightning reactions, the mother elephant quickly turned to her calf to lend him some moral support. In a flash, the baby elephant was back on his feet and all happy again."

This footage was filmed on November 23.
