CASTLE PINES, Colo. — A joint effort between the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol safely stopped a reckless driver on Interstate 25 Friday morning, officials said.

Deputies received reports around 9:35 a.m. Sept. 12 of a vehicle hitting the center median while traveling 75 mph near Castle Pines. A deputy located the car and followed it southbound toward Larkspur, taking steps to protect other drivers during the pursuit.

Colorado State Patrol troopers, equipped with Grappler technology, deployed the device near the Greenland Road exit, bringing the vehicle to a safe stop. The driver was taken into custody without injury.

Sheriff Darren Weekly praised the interagency effort, calling it a reminder that reckless drivers will be caught. Officials emphasized the Grappler’s effectiveness in preventing dangerous chases from escalating.
