Elephant plays peekaboo with passers-by in Sri Lanka
An elephant strayed toward the road passing by the forest cover in Sri Lanka's Uva Province on March 4. The incident took place in Buttala town, located in the Monaragala district.
Visuals feature the elephant walking out of the forest cover and lingering on the street. Meanwhile, panic grips that pass by, who stop their vehicles mid-road to avoid getting in the jumbo's way. However, the pachyderm plays peekaboo with the passers-by, appearing out of the woods and then retreating again.
The elephants in the region often appear on the street as the passers-by often stop in their way to feed the jumbos. The jumbos have become accustomed to this routine and therefore approach the vehicles driving past the road.
