UPLAND, Calif. — Upland police officers are being credited with saving a baby’s life after responding to a 911 call Monday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 13th Street and Campus Avenue for a report of a baby not breathing. Arriving within minutes, they found the infant unresponsive and immediately worked to clear the airway before beginning CPR.

As paramedics arrived, the baby started breathing again and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors determined the child likely choked and went into cardiac arrest. The baby remains hospitalized but is expected to recover. Officials commended the family for calling 911 quickly and praised the officers’ swift response.
