ST. PAUL, Minn. — A suspected shoplifting incident escalated into a vehicle pursuit and arrest late Tuesday after Ramsey County deputies located a stolen car outside a Target store in St. Paul, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. at the Target on Ford Parkway, where deputies discovered a BMW 335 reported stolen out of Bloomington the previous day. As deputies boxed in the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee, ramming two squad cars before driving into oncoming traffic on Ford Parkway.

Deputy McManus ended the pursuit by pinning the BMW into a snowbank. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Minneapolis, was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without reported injuries.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including motor vehicle theft, fleeing a peace officer, criminal damage to property, and shoplifting. Authorities also confirmed the man has nine outstanding felony charges in Hennepin County.

No deputies or bystanders were injured during the incident, which ended safely despite hazardous winter conditions.
