This is the horrific moment when a professional snake catcher was bitten by a python while giving training on how to catch snakes in Indonesia.

Footage filmed in Koto Tuo, Agam district, West Sumatra province, on July 21, shows an animal rescue team from a reptile-loving group providing training on how to deal with snakes to disaster preparedness groups.

Syawal Waldi, the snake catcher, showed the rubber bands and cable tie that were prepared before catching the snake.

The team removed the 11.5-foot-long python from the sack. Seeing the size of the live snake in front of them scared the trainees.

Waldi the trainer got into action, showing him how to catch a snake by covering the snake's eyes with taro leaves.

Waldi managed to catch the python's head, and immediately tied the snake's mouth with a rubber band.

After that, Waldi removed the python's head, then untied the python's tail on its leg.

Meanwhile, the python kept trying to attack Waldi, and unexpectedly at the right moment managed to stick its teeth and mouth into Waldi's left hand, which made the blood from Waldi's hand splatter to the floor.

The snake attack shocked the team and the trainees. The team tried to release the snake bite on Waldi's palm, while Waldi pressed the snake's head.

"I didn't realize the rubber band on the python's mouth was loose, presumably as the knot was too tight so it slipped and slipped out of the snake's lower mouth," Waldi said.

The team removed the snake bite with a hook, then took Wadi to the hospital.

Additional footage shows Waldi being taken to the operating room. Medics stitched up the wound on Waldi's palm.

Footage on August 4, or two weeks after the incident showed the wound on Waldi's palm which had dried up.
