Dubz the Dog Rescued, Receiving Life-Saving Emergency Care
KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen police and animal services officers rescued an injured dog named Dubz from a residence in the 1500 block of Gowan Drive on Saturday night, July 5, following a coordinated operation involving an arrest and emergency veterinary response.
According to the Killeen Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:05 p.m. to investigate reports of an injured dog in need of urgent care. After arresting the male owner on unrelated active warrants, officers and Killeen Animal Services entered the home and took custody of the dog. Dubz was immediately transported for emergency veterinary care.
Police Commander Lourence noted that officers were emotionally impacted by Dubz’s condition and emphasized that the rescue had been carefully planned for safety. “This course of action took time to execute to ensure the safety of everyone, including Dubz,” Lourence said. “We are thankful he is receiving care.”
After an initial grim prognosis, Dubz was transferred to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Austin, where he is receiving a blood transfusion and intensive treatment. His care is being supported by Jack Jack’s Pack, a nonprofit rescue, which is collecting donations to cover over $6,000 in medical expenses.
Community members interested in supporting Dubz’s recovery can donate via the official fundraiser at Jack Jack’s Pack on Zeffy or by calling the veterinary hospital at (737) 256-6607.
