Deputies Use PIT Maneuver to Stop Stolen Corolla
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Ramsey County deputies arrested two men with lengthy criminal records after a pursuit ended with a PIT maneuver on Interstate 94, the sheriff’s office said.
The silver Toyota Corolla had been stolen from Mason City, Iowa, and was spotted more than 140 miles north in the Twin Cities. Deputies attempted to box the vehicle in, but the driver broke free and tried to flee toward I-94. A PIT maneuver by deputies forced the car to a stop, and both occupants were taken into custody.
Authorities said the men have extensive criminal histories involving drugs, firearms and multiple prior attempts to flee from law enforcement. Their latest run ended at the Ramsey County Jail, where both now face charges.
